What It Means for Business
A social media platform that is hard to understand but also something you can have a lot of fun on, whether it’s for personal or business reasons social media has become ingrained into our daily lives so let’s begin.
Social media has grown into a major player in our lives. It’s hard to remember what life was like before social media became such a big part of it. There are many different platforms that you can use for social media. But Facebook and Instagram have become the most popular. In this blog post, we’ll discuss how social media can be used by businesses to influence their success.
Social media is a powerful tool that can be used to build awareness, increase leads, and make sure your customers are happy. We’ll discuss the power of social media for business based on these three major objectives:
– Building Awareness
– Increasing Leads
– Customer Satisfaction
Building Awareness
Businesses need to provide updates and information about the company so that their customers know what’s going on with the business, whether it’s promotions or an event coming up, special offers or just sharing something funny. Customers like to know what’s going on and what a business is about. After all, we are all nosey about something or another.
Social Media has become such a fundamental part of our lives, that if a business is not posting on social media they are missing out. Businesses need to be active and engaging. So even if you don’t have a lot of followers it can still go viral which increases the chances of customers coming in-store or buying from your online shop. If you go viral for the right reasons you can become a long-standing and established person or business. It all helps.
A highly important part of building awareness is your brand. Having a unique brand can make it stand out and allow customers to recognize your business from a mile away. Some people forget names but will remember a face. Think of your brand, and your logo as the face of the business if your business was a person.
If a customer isn’t aware you exist then they will never buy from you.
Increasing Leads Through Social Media
Social media can be a powerful tool for lead generation. If people are sharing your posts or following you then they’re likely to share with their followers and so on. This means that customers will come in the door faster than ever before.
Before social media, you had to wait until someone found out about your business. That could be through traditional means like an advert in newspapers, the common but powerful business card, or a simple well-designed flyer. Though traditional still has its place!
Social media is a more organic way of marketing in the digital age, this is hard to ignore as almost everyone is on their phones, tablets, or computers at some point during the day.
There is more to social media than just being on the platform and posting. There are a lot of things that each platform has available that can help tailor your content to the best times, days and audience to name just a few features that assist in posting alone!
Getting your content pushed out to the right audience at the right time with the perfect marketing message is a challenge. And is very much a trial-and-error system, adapting to the data and continuing to provide quality over quantity. There is no silver bullet. But once you get your strategy sorted, and have a good understanding of your audience then over time that builds organic leads.
For slightly quicker lead results you can look into paid adverts. Which is a whole new world with different insights and more in-depth research that needs to be done before the ad creation. Social media can be so powerful that on some platforms you can target down to a postcode!
There is no guarantee, much like a newspaper ad that it can generate you leads. Don’t be fooled by those promising leads that are too good to be true.

Customer Satisfaction Through Social Media
Social media works as an extension of you and for business. This means that it’s important to have social channels where customers are, whether they are talking about you or not.
Getting positive testimonials and reviews is great they help to build trust. But further to this there is how a business handles its negative reviews. Deleting and hiding reviews will not help to build trust. If anything that allows for negative word of mouth to grow quicker.
You never know who is watching. And some of those who are watching will judge your business and service on how you handle a negative review. If you ignore it, try to hide it, or cause further conflict then you have lost those who were on the fence. If you handle a negative review or testimonial in a structured and “we want to help” manner, you can be winning business!
There may be competitors and bots leaving bad reviews but you must be certain it’s 100% that reason. If you are certain it’s a competitor or bot remove the review/testimonial, if that is unavailable it’s best to pass by it, calling out a competitor can just cause turmoil where there shouldn’t be.
Don’t forget to encourage your customers to leave reviews. But don’t pester them for it. That can turn what was a glowing review or testimonial into a bitter experience and dampen what would be 5 stars!
Focus on your service. Grow those honest and helpful reviews/testimonials and you will be providing truthful social proof to anyone who may be thinking about your service or purchasing from you.
In conclusion, social media can be your friend if you know how to use it and what not to do. Don’t neglect it and keep your content, regular, and quality and adapt to the data you will wielding the power of social media in no time.
Social media requires a lot of time and analysis of data. So if you are pressed for time, not sure where to start or just don’t want to think about it seek out a professional who will support you and your business.
